Oamaru–the world’s next spaceport?

Today the Waitaki District Council signed a memorandum of understanding with Dawn Aerospace to establish Oamaru as the base for testing and ultimately flying a novel unmanned rocket-propelled space plane. Under the MOU, flights could begin as early as later in 2020, opening up a new chapter not only in Oamaru’s story, but also in the development of cleaner, greener and more economical methods of getting payloads–and potentially passengers–into space.
